Helsinki Olympic Stadium welcomes visitors with tours, tower views and the TAHTO Sports Museum. Check tickets and opening hours before your visit.
Helsinki Olympic Stadium (finnish: Helsingin Olympiastadion) is a symbol of Finland’s sporting spirit and modern design. Just north of the city centre, it welcomes visitors from all over the world.
The stadium opened in 1938 after four years of construction. It was designed by Yrjö Lindegren and Toivo Jäntti with a focus on function and clean lines. A full renovation in 2005 improved comfort and accessibility for today’s visitors.
Built for the cancelled 1940 Olympics, it later hosted the Games in 1952. Today the site reflects Finland’s modern history and its passion for sport and architecture.

Its 72 metre tower offers a sweeping view across Helsinki. The bright facade and clear form make it a favourite photo stop for travellers.
Around 40,000 people can fit inside, making it one of the nation’s top event venues. It has hosted major sports, cultural gatherings and legendary concerts by artists such as U2 and Madonna, drawing huge crowds from Finland and abroad.
A bronze statue of legendary runner Paavo Nurmi stands in front of the stadium. Sculpted by Wäinö Aaltonen and unveiled in 1952, it symbolises Finland’s sporting spirit.
